Swimming season is in full swing, and The City of Brownsville Parks and Recreation Department public pools are offering a number of ways to get your feet wet.

Listed below is a sampling of summer pool events. Make sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram for updates to our activities.  Nearly all are subject to regular daily admission fees (unless you have purchased a Family Swim Pass).

Memorial Day is a day we honor and celebrate all who have serve.  Memorial Day Weekend is also the time we 
officially kick off the summer season.
We open our doors at Sams Pool and invite EVERYONE to splash and swim for FREE!

When:  Monday, May 29th, 2017
Where:  Sams Pool  501 E. Ringgold Street
Time:  1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Cost:  FREE



Dive in Movies at The Pool 2017

Dive In Movies


This summer, Dive-In Movies are making a splash Sams Memorial pool!

This activity allows our patrons the opportunity to unwind in the water while watching a movie on our poolside big screen.  With no sun to worry about, and a family friendly movie on the screen…everyone is sure to have a very relaxing and fun experience.


When:  June 10th, July 8th, and August 5th of 2017
Where:  Sams Pool  501 E. Ringgold Street
Time:  8 p.m.
Cost of Admission:


  • $2 General Admission (13+ years of age)
  • $1 Child (12 and under)
  • $1 Senior (55+ years of age)

PLEASE NOTE:  If you are bringing your own rafts, inner tubes, or floatation devices to the pool with you for use during the Dive-In Movie, these objects must be completely transparent. Our lifeguards must be able to see through your floatation object to the pool bottom for safety reasons.

First Day of the Learn-to-Swim Program


is June 12, 2017.

We will be offering classes until August 3, but June 12 officially kicks off our Learn-to-Swim Program season.
